I’m Kaitlin, the founder of Rutabaga Garden Tools and Rutabaga Education.
My professional background is primarily in elementary education as a Classroom Teacher and School Garden Coordinator. I spearheaded a successful school garden program for seven years, have taught hundreds of gardeners of all ages, and earned the title of "an edible gardening evangelist" from San Diego Home/Garden Lifestyles magazine. My passion lies in providing accessible resources that encourage more people of all ages to experience the joy of outdoor gardening. I am excited about the potential of our partnership and the positive impact we can make together in our planet's soil and sea.

This foundation is dedicated to diverting post-consumer plastic from our oceans, shorelines, and landfills and transforming it into the material we use to craft our Rutabaga Garden Tools. DESIGNING THE PERFECT GARDEN TOOLS
We set out to design a line of garden tools accessible to everyone. The patent-pending handle we use today results from five years of testing and research. The ergonomic design makes Rutabaga Garden Tools a perfect fit for kids and adults.
Our tools are manufactured in the United States using post-consumer, BPA-free plastic recovered from our oceans. Non-toxic, vibrant colors make spotting Rutabaga products easy, even in a lush growing space. And long after most tools begin to rot or rust, our handles’ biodegradable elastomer turns to compost at the end of its life cycle.
