I am high school special education teacher with a group of 9th and 10th grade students. I fell into gardening at our school (am blessed to have access to beautiful garden beds) but am completely new to gardening. I was looking for a curriculum that was simple enough for me to execute, yet engaging enough even for my high schoolers. Rutabaga Education's books were the PERFECT answer to what I was seeking.
The curriculum is designed for any type of gardener and gives enough variety of activities that speak to learners of all abilities and ages. The pictures, bullet pointed lists, and charts are incredibly helpful, and the information, while easy to read and understand, is sophisticated and detailed. Each lesson is self-contained and ordered in a very logical manner.
In addition to the actual curriculum, I have truly appreciated Rutabaga Education's level of communication and dedication to making sure that all of my questions are answered. Because I am so new to gardening, they helped me envision what plants would go where, and even helped me with executing my first few lessons. You can tell that Rutabaga Education is passionate about educating others about gardening and derive true joy from seeing their mission put into action.
